Alternative Timeline: Power Pete’s Playhouse (2022)

“No Cameo accounts were harmed during the making of this video.”

I tried something new for this year’s birthday video.

Please don’t feel obligated to watch this. I’m not expecting anyone to sit through the whole story. I made it mostly for myself. Which is the first mistake when trying to entertain others; but absolutely perfect when it’s your own birthday. Also, it’s really silly.

Remember back when The Beatles got high on LCD, and they dreamt up crazy shit, and they made those dreams a reality in the Magical Mystery Tour film? Yeah, it’s nothing like that.

The Beatles were awesome. My video is horse kaka compared to that. But the inspiration comes from the same place, just without any LCD.

My video premieres on Youtube: September 22, 2022 at 12:01am EST. (This video also has closed captioning)

Happy to have you not watch it then!

47 Things (2021)

It was my birthday again. Here are some things that I did over the last year.

The Hidden Arcade at the Falls (2020)

I don’t normally do anything crazy for my birthday anymore. My wife and I usually go out to a nice restaurant, maybe with a couple of friends, but that’s it. But back in 2020, thanks to the pandemic, we were limited as to what we could do with friends. So instead, we decided to take a day off during the week, get out of the city, and visit Niagara Falls.

Today is my birthday (2020)

In 2020 I made a day-in-the-life vlog off my birthday. We were 6 months into the covid-19 pandemic, and it felt like I was doing the same thing, over and over. This is literally what I had done every day while we stayed home.

The Greeks Awaken (2015)

October 28th = OXI Day (Holiday in Greece).

Kids today don’t know what that is. No problem. I made this so they can understand. You’re welcome!

5 Songs by The Dead Milkmen (Toronto Riot Fest) (2015)

I finally edited the The Dead Milkmen performance from Toronto’s Riot Fest on Saturday, September 19, 2015 (2-3pm). Extra special thanks to @THLRandwulf for graciously providing additional footage (to fill in my gaps) and way better sound. Please subscribe to his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/THLRandwulf

All songs copyright The Dead Milkmen. The greatest band in the whole world (wink, wink)

My ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Video (2014)

Lots of videos going around of people dumping water over the heads for this cause. I wanted to do something a little different, a little more creative, so I made this video after my co-worker nominated me.

Lego Ideas: Back To The Future: 1955 Hill Valley Clock Tower (2014)

Earlier this year I had decided to create my own version of the iconic building from the Back to the Future movies. The Hill Valley Clock Tower (1955 edition) is the perfect companion piece to go with your Official Lego Ideas (formally Cuusoo) DeLorean.

Most Lego designers use a computer for this sort of thing. But I built this from seeing the original film about 10,000 times. I know that building’s exterior inside out. Ok fine, Google image searches kind of helped too. ;)

If you would like to help support the project, you can do so by visiting the campaign page here. We need about 10,000 votes to make this a real set. We are no where close to that number. So if you can please support then re-share this post that would be amazing. Thank you in advance!

Party On Facebook: 39 (2013)

I made another one!

You can check out all those projects by going to my events page here:

https://www.facebook.com/events/209347692566682/

What this is all about:

So on September 22, 2013, it was my 39th Birthday.

And instead of having a real party, I asked 39 random friends on Facebook to request one (1) of the following 5 things:

DRAWING/PHOTO - Where I create a funny photo
STORY - I will write a short story
MOVIE - I will create a Instagram/Vine movie
MUSIC - I will create a 30 second song
and finally,
GIVE-BACK” - **NEW THIS YEAR - Where I gave something away.
This could be a vinyl record, board game, action figure, a favour, whatever. The individual needed to be local to receive this one.

Remember: “No need for showering. It’s a Party On Facebook.”

Diane (2013)

In 2013, I helped my pal Andrew Woolner create this music video for his theatre company’s fundraising campaign. I think this has to be some of our finest work.

Written & Performed: Andrew Woolner

The Empire Strikes Back: Action Figure Movie (2012)

My Empire…

So in 1993, I graduated from high school not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. I mean, I knew I wanted to be a filmmaker. But the 5 colleges and 3 universities I applied to did not accept me.

So I tried again a year later and got into the film program at Ryerson University here in Toronto. But that year BEFORE I was accepted, I did a lot of soul searching. And that’s when I re-discovered…

The Empire Strikes Back.

I know that may seem kind of lame to some people, but that movie changed my life: the story, the characters, the effects. Yoda was so cool back then! That movie was exactly the type of film I wanted to make!

So like a little kid (i was actually 19 at the time) playing with his toys I tried recreating it….on video! I borrowed my cousin’s camera, and my other cousin’s vintage AT-AT walker and action figures. Purchased 5 boxes of soap detergent and made the planet Hoth in my parent’s basement!

Huge mistake.

After seeing the results of a few week’s work (about 9 minutes of “stop-motion” crap) I gave up. I forgot all about it after I got accepted to Ryerson. And that was that. Here’s the footage if you want to see it:
